We took a drive today up to Grant Grove in Sequoia National Park. It was beautiful and it smelled really wonderful; very aromatic. While hiking the path to the General Grant Tree, we passed the fallen sequoia tree that you can walk through and climb on top. That certainly brought back memories. Parents were taking pictures of their kids sitting on the tree; the very spot where mom and dad took our picture about 45 years ago.
Of course there were many sequoias along the path, and they are truly gigantic. The General Grant Tree is exceptionally gigantic.It is the third largest sequoia tree in the world and is estimated to be over 3,000 years old. Looks just like it did 45 years ago!
Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch at the village restaurant and perused the gift shop.
I remember that! I'd love to take my kids there someday too.
